Hello everyone, I just thought I would write a few lines to say hello, I have just jumped in and started firing questions at you all which seems a bit rude. I thought I should say hello and introduce myself.
I'm 35 and have had this pain for about 10 years - ever since a run of urinary and vaginal infections way back when I was travelling in Bankok.
I finally got a diagnoses last year of …

Hi ladies,
It's very nice to meet other women who share this same issue. I have had vulvodynia for about 4 years now... I went off the pill about 2 years ago and it has significantly improved since then. About 6 months ago, my pain went away to almost nothing. Also, I was using lidocaine on and off and it helped a lot. Well I moved 2 months ago and that partner and I split up, so I have not had …

Fri May 04, 2012 12:44 am by ivyrose
Hello. Please read this, I want to help as many women as possible. One thing I have learned over the last 3 yrs suffering from this condition is NOT TO ACCEPT EVERYTHING YOUR DR TELLS YOU.
I posted on here a while ago claiming that I had experienced a large decrease in my provoked pain due to taking baking soda baths. Since then the pain came back with vengeance and I realised I was wrong. The …

Hello all! I normally do not get on these kind of things, but I don't know where else to turn. I have Lupus, which is what they say caused my vulvodynia. I have known about my vulvodynia for about six months and I have known about my Lupus for one year. I am twenty years old, and my family has no idea. I have tried everything I can think of. The gynocolgist (might not have spelled that right) did …

new to the forum, newly diagnosed

I've had such stinging pain at the insertion of anything in this area since August 2008. I was six and a half months pregnant and went to my OBGYN immediately and said, "something's wrong". Of course, it was blamed on the pregnancy and the "blood flow" to that area. I had a C-section (age 38 when I had my first and only daughter, Caroline) and waited the 2 months before …

I'm 30 years old and I'm from Croatia, Europe. Few weeks ago doctors told me that I have V. I have it for little bit more that 1 year. I think the triger was HPV infection.
I'm reading your posts and still I don't want to belive that there is no cure for V. I can't belive that the old nice life is over. I simply don't want to belive it. Especialy now when I have finaly found the love of my life.

Laser Hair Removal??

Laser Hair Removal??
Has anyone ever had IPL/VPL/Laser Hair Removal on their bikini area before?
I've wanted it for years but, as it was £130 per session (and you need 6-8 sessions!) I figured it was just a pipe dream.
However... My local beauty therapists have a special on and are now offering it at £40 a session! Crazy!
Anyway, I was just about to call up and book myself in for my first session when I started to panic. I know it's supposed to be 100% safe, but... Is it Vestibulodynia 100% safe?? I only worry because I'm unsure about the laser part and how it may affect nerve endings. Plus, it's permanent, so if something does go wrong/it makes it worse, then I'm stuck with it forever.
Am I just being dramatic? Ha ha. I really want it done, I have for a long time, but I just don't want to do anything to make things worse, and talking to my GP is no help as it will take days to even get a 2 minute phone conversation with her.
Any suggestions guys? I may pop in tonight and enquire but, as always, they won't be up on their V knowledge!

Re: Laser Hair Removal??
I can't speak from experience and I haven't a lot of knowledge in this area, but I would think that it would be completely fine, because the hair is external. The hair only grows on the outer labia, and that part is not affected by V-pain, so I don't imagine it could possibly cause problems.

Can't say for sure but for those women with diffuse pain that also have problems with the outer areas I wouldn't advise it.

YIKES!
I have generalised vulvodynia - pain inside, outside and in the bikini area.
I wouldnt even consider laser hair removal. Kinda makes me cringe.
Well, venture at your own risk. :/

Re: Laser Hair Removal??
I didn't go for it in the end.
I booked an appointment and was already to go, then rang up and changed it to just a standard wax appt. instead!
I did have a chat with the lady though and she's reassured me on some of the other aspects I was concerned about, so I think I will give it a go. I reckon I'll have a chat with my GP next time I go in though and see what she says about it too, just incase I get every doctor for the next 5 years telling me that's the reason why I'm still in pain.
I'll keep you all posted!
